The KOOSHOO Story

As I noted in last week's episode, KOOSHOO means feeling good. The word comes from the rare language of Norfuk, a language indigenous to Norfolk Island, a 3x5 mile island in the South Pacific where KOOSHOO co-founder Rachel was born and raised.

KOOSHOO

KOOSHOO, the ecommerce storewas birthed out of a simple desire:  To help others feel good.  Every time they make a business decision, they ask: "does this feel kooshoo?" This has led them to create beautiful multi-purpose shawls, hairties and yoga headbands that you can truly feel good about.

Crowdfunding Campaigns: A Kickstarter Success Story

Crowdfunding Campaigns: How KOOSHOO Ran a Wildly Successful Kickstarter Campaign

As a way to launch a new KOOSHOO product, the Journey Shawl, the KOOSHOO team ran a Kickstarter Campaign.  To say they had a successful campaign is a massive understatement!

In just 4 days they reached their goal of $10,000 and the campaign went on to garner $24,511 CAD helping them to a successful launch and now one of their ongoing top-selling products.

Not sure what crowdfunding is?  Check out Crowdfunding on Wikipedia.

What's key is that not only did they reach their base goal, but they were able to to keep the momentum going to more than double the goal!

  • How to set your ideal dollar amount to raise
  • Keys to success BEFORE the campaign launches
  • Building your pre-launch media team
  • Pressing on with press failures to find partners and how that pays off
  • The importance of visuals and video in your campaign
  • Preparing ahead for "Stretch Goal" incentives when a campaign exceeds the goal
  • Keeping the Crowdfunding Community engaged
  • Connecting with your community after the campaign
  • and more!

Here's the KOOSHOO Kickstarter video...

Why the Halftime theme Mike?

I’m an Indiana Hoosier native where basketball is the top sport. Every team heads to the locker room at halftime to evaluate the first half and create a updated plan for the second half. That plan includes adjustments based on reviewing what worked and what didn't. The “halftime” is a key review point where the game stops, the team pulls away to huddle in the locker room away from the fans, and they come out prepared and ready to succeed in the second half.

That’s what this podcast is all about, taking the time to pull away for a bit to evaluate, learn, and set some strategies for your business to succeed in the second half. Join me by subscribing and let me be your “business halftime” to help you find great success going forward!
