Planning for 2017 Web and Social Media Marketing

1. Make your Website Mobile Responsive or Feel Google Pain

It's a fact, Google is moving to mobile-first search engine indexing of websites in 2017.  This means they'll review your site for search engine results from a mobile perspective.  Sites that are not mobile friendly or responsive will drop in search ranking.

Your mobile site should NOT be a brief version of your main site.  It needs to be ONE site that is responsive, meaning it responds and changes to work well on any size device being used.

2. Build that Lead Funnel on your Website!

Too many websites have no real lead capture plan.  It's one of the most widespread problems I see.  With statistics showing somewhere around 70% of first time web traffic to a site never returning, it's more important that ever to have a implemented lead capture plan.  For the full strategy using social media, I recommend my book as a hands-on guide for lead generation.

In short, you should have a incentive offer on your site that is of enough value (ebook, video, discount code, free initial meeting, etc) that users want to register (name and email) for it.  The offer needs to JUMP out at the user and can't be hidden on a sidebar or way down.  I recommend a pop-up tool like our Waftio apps.

Once captured, the leads should be in a email nurture campaign to further build trust, increase brand recognition, answer questions and then offer a direct incentive to buy.

3. Content is King on your Website and on the Web

Yes, your content matters.  It matters for visitors, for SEO, and for social media.  If you want to have any chance at ranking for key terms, you need to have quality, resource-rich targeted content on your site.  We recommend a blog that you use as a "Resource Center".

Have a content plan to get at least one 600 word blog post out each week.  In that post include some quality images and perhaps a quick video embedded from your YouTube Channel.

4. New Social Media Tools like the Facebook Video Feed

This is one of those key new tools that just rolled out that continues to evolve how social media impacts your business marketing.  Facebook just rolled out a new feature in the mobile smartphone app...a dedicated new video feed!  Just like the regular newsfeed, this is a feed of your friends, Pages liked, and Groups....but just the videos they have created!

It's a bit like Instagram's "Stories" with circle icons of your connections in the top showing when they have recently created a new video and then videos and live videos below.  Beyond that there is a "suggested videos" area as well.

Why is this important?

Facebook gives precedence to video and live video!  If you want to have posts seen by your fans and rise above competition to be seen, you need to use video!  More details in the podcast! Click the image above to hear me give an example of how this can be used with TabSite contests.

5. Advanced Website Tools

The web keeps advancing and more and more business process tools can now be used online.  Things like CRM systems for managing customers and leads, Ordering system for dealer, sales rep, and distributor networks, Warranty System, Parts Replacement portals, Private Pages and media resources for Training Groups and more can all be found online.

Tools for customers and prospects to have more access, easier access, and more "sticky" tools that keep them coming back can be a key competitive advantage for your business.

It's time to start thinking about adding tools to your website that can help your business gain advantage.

6. 2017 Online Marketing Planning Checklist

Why the Halftime theme Mike?

I’m an Indiana Hoosier native where basketball is the top sport. Every team heads to the locker room at halftime to evaluate the first half and create an updated plan for the second half. That plan includes adjustments based on reviewing what worked and what didn't. The “halftime” is a key review point where the game stops, the team pulls away to huddle in the locker room away from the fans, and they come out prepared and ready to succeed in the second half.

That’s what this podcast is all about, taking the time to pull away for a bit to evaluate, learn, and set some strategies for your business to succeed in the second half. Join me by subscribing and let me be your “business halftime” to help you find great success going forward!
